Our Commitment to Accessibility

Pareto Italy is committed to ensuring that our website, paretoitaly.com, is accessible to all users, including individuals with disabilities. We believe that every person deserves equal access to discover and purchase authentic Italian artisan goods, and we are actively working to provide a website experience that is inclusive, clear, and easy to use for everyone.

Conformance Status

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.

Pareto Italy is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content may not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are committed to ongoing improvement and regular accessibility audits.

Accessibility Features

We have implemented or are in the process of implementing the following accessibility features on our Site:

Visual Accessibility

  • Color contrast ratios that meet WCAG 2.1 AA minimum standards across text and background combinations

  • Text that can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality

  • Alternative text (alt text) provided for all meaningful images, including product photographs and artisan portraits

  • Decorative images are marked appropriately to be ignored by screen readers

  • No content that relies solely on color to convey meaning

Navigation & Structure

  • Consistent, logical page structure using proper heading hierarchy (H1 through H3)

  • Keyboard-navigable menus and interactive elements

  • Visible focus indicators on all keyboard-navigable elements

  • Skip navigation link available to jump directly to main content

  • Descriptive page titles and breadcrumb navigation on all major pages

Forms & Interactive Elements

  • All form fields include descriptive labels visible to screen readers

  • Error messages identify the specific field and explain how to correct it

  • No time limits on form completion unless essential to functionality

  • CAPTCHA alternatives provided where applicable

Media & Content

  • Product videos include captions where speech or significant audio is present

  • PDFs and downloadable documents are formatted to be screen reader accessible

  • No content that flashes more than three times per second

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some areas of our website may not yet meet all WCAG 2.1 AA standards. Current known limitations include:

  • Some older product images in our artisan archive may lack descriptive alt text. We are actively reviewing and updating these.

  • Certain third-party embedded content (such as social media widgets) may not fully conform to accessibility standards. We are working with vendors to address these issues.

  • Some PDF documents available for download may not be fully tagged for screen reader access.
     

We are committed to addressing these limitations as part of our ongoing accessibility improvement plan.
